Since we’re nearing the end of monsoon season here in southeast Arizona, this felt like a good picture to use. It’s a good representation of a lot of the air mass type thunderstorms we see this time of year.
Where I was standing the sun was shining, it was warm, and I was very dry.
Had I been a mile or so away underneath one of those rain shafts, it would have been a completely different story.
Sometimes the weather we experience can be extremely unique to our specific location. Seriously, we’ve had plenty of times since I’ve lived here in Arizona where it would be raining the backyard, but then when you walked out the front door the sun was shining.
Interestingly, the only other place I remember regularly experiencing this was when I lived in Hawaii.
I guess the moral of this short story is …
If the weatherman forecasts a 50% chance of rain and you’re mad because your lawn didn’t get watered for free, it doesn’t mean that your neighbor just down the street might not be regretting forgetting to roll up his car windows now that his seats are soaked.
Do you have any good weather stories?
Til next time,
