Ask me how many time a week I go to Wally World?
Go head, ask …
It’s usually at least a whole handful, sometimes two.
That’s right, I have been know to go our local Walmart multiple times in the same day.
How does that happen you may ask?
Well, apparently I’m getting old and my memory is not the greatest. I forget that I need something the first (and sometimes second) time that I’m there. When I get home and discover what I forgot, I often go back … because it’s less than a mile away.
I’ve often asked myself …
Is this a Blessing or a Curse?
I tend to lean towards the former. My girlfriend Kelly not so much.
This comes down primarily to how we like to shop. I’m a fan of knowing what’s for dinner and stopping to get the ingredients I need on the way home from work. She on the other hand, grew up in the country and still feels like we need to do a big weekly grocery shopping trip so that she can just go to the cabinet or the fridge to get what she wants, when she wants it.
Do you have a shopping frequency preference?
If I know exactly what I want and don’t get held up by a line at the register I can get to the store and back (without speeding) pretty quickly; I think my fastest time is 18 minutes.
It’s super convenient if you discover that you’re out of cheese, milk, eggs, or most importantly, caffeine for tomorrow.
There is a potential downside though …
I think only Costco is worse than Walmart when it comes to the strange phenomena of running to the store for one or two specific things, then going back to your car with a whole cart full of stuff—your bank account having taken a triple-digit hit.
Happens way more often than I’d like to admit.
Although in my defense, it’s usually when Kelly or one of the kids comes with me.
One last confession
Walmart isn’t the only grocery store I’ve been known to stop at more than once a week.
The Commissary on Fort Huachuca is also less than a mile from my office.
How could I not swing by on the way home?
How about you, do you have a store that you visit probably too often?
Til next time,
