Hi, I’m Todd
I’m a 55 year old military weather guy. I did this job for 24 years while I was active duty, then I’ve been lucky enough to do it for the past 10+ years as a civilian. If you had asked my 21 year old self what kind of job he’d like to have in his 50s, the answer would have gone something like “I’d like to get paid reasonably well, and not work too hard".
I’ve got that.
When it comes to family, by the time all is said and done, I will have had a hand in raising ten kids. Five of them are still in high school now. One of my teen daughters lives with her mom in Texas. My other teen daughter is here with me in Arizona, and we both live with my partner Kelly and her three teens (two boys and a girl). I also have seven grand kids. My life is full in that respect.
Through the years I’ve always been interested in personal growth and positive psychology. Over time I’ve read a lot of books, watched a lot videos, and I was even once a Master Resilience trainer in the military, where I got to attend a week-long training at the University of Pennsylvania.
With all that being said, like any human I’ve still had my ups, downs, and more than occasional struggles with things like eating right, getting enough exercise, not spending too much money, improving, enhancing, maintaining my relationships, and just plain trying to be happy.
It’s November 6th 2024
Make what you will the significance of that date. But I decided early on Wednesday morning that with so many things in the world outside of my control, it’s well past time that I got back to focusing a lot more of my time and energy on being/becoming the best version of Todd that I can be.
It’s just a hunch, but I’m betting that a lot of other people are in the same boat.
Thus the launch of New Greater You …
This newsletter will be my way of recording and sharing the things I remember, the new things I learn, and just the journey of growth and change that even and old white bearded guy like me can still experience.
I’m going to write when I feel like it. But I do promise at least one new post a week.
I know it’s early, but if you’d like follow along …
Let’s build a CommUnity
I know the term is “personal” growth. But like many things, it’s easier to do (and more importantly stick to) when you do it with friends.
Did I mention that I could use some new friends?
Oh, you too?
Well it sounds like you might have come to the right place.
I would love it if over time the comments section of this newsletter turns into a family of sorts, with people sharing their own stories, struggles and especially triumphs. I really do want to get to know YOU … and especially watch your journey to becoming a New Greater You.
Okay, let’s do this!
