When I go to a thrift store (my teens love thrifting), the first place I head is to the book section.
I picked this up about 6 months ago for $1.
Pretty sure I read it the first time at least 20 years ago. But I VERY MUCH needed to read it again at this point in my life.
I assure you it was in better condition when I bought it. Most of the tattering of the cover is my fault …
Mainly because I carry this book with me almost every day.
What I love most about this particular book is that each chapter is its own story, and they’re only 3-5 pages. So basically, I can pick this book up, randomly turn to any spot, and a read a short lesson that may resonate with me in that moment.
I’m capable of reading longer “self help” type books. But if I’m honest with you, I’m part ways through about 1/2 a dozen different full-length books at the moment.
Right now, this is the one that works for me when I need it.
How about you …
Do you have any “go to” books that read over and over, and maybe even carry with you?
p.s I have a confession about my past. Way back in the late 90s/early 2000s, I dabbled in network marketing (aka mlm) for a few years. I was fortunate, in that although I obviously never got rich from it, I also didn’t lose money (sold waterless car wash, then scented clean burning candles). I’m slightly embarrassed now that I did mlm. But I’m also eternally grateful that it introduced me to reading these kinds of books, and sparked my now lifelong interest in personal growth in general.
So basically, wouldn’t change that experience.
Well, I think that’s what I’ve got for today.
