For this morning’s picture post, let’s (re)do an experiment.
These two pictures are the same image taken at the Grand Canyon last month.
One version was edited by me in Lightroom (relatively quick 10 minute edit), and one was the output after uploading an unedited jpg to Gemini (ready to download in about 30 seconds).
Can you tell which is which? If so, what are the giveaways?
I don’t sell pictures. If I did, I would never even consider letting an AI such as Gemini do my editing for me. But since these pictures are mainly for me, this is an experiment I may continue to come back to from time to time, even though it was a bit of a crash and burn on the first attempt.
I think it’s a much closer call this time.
I do enjoy editing pictures, and having control over my “vision”.
But if I can get Gemini to learn my editing “style”, and to never take liberties such as inserting or taking out elements of the photograph unless I specifically tell it to, I’m pretty sure I’d appreciate all the time it would save me.
This is still an academic discussion. For the time being, you can continue to assume that any pictures I share were taken and edited just by me.
If I do ever get to the point where I let Gemini do it (for an image or batch), I’ll let you know when they’re shared.
Happy Saturday!
Til Next time,

I think the 2nd one is Gemini - unless you purposely edited it to be more painterly. Depends on what prompt instructions you gave Gemini.
