We just finished a three week housesit with Raymond the cat. He ignored us most of the time. Behaved like a wayward teenager. Out and about all day and night, just came home for meals. On our last night he decided he wanted to sleep all night on the bed with us. His way of saying thank you perhaps.
Yes, Kelly would be on board with your view. As far as she's concerned when this group is gone (the dog belongs to the step-daughter) and the cats are both 10+ years old, we will remain pet-less going forward.
I may have to go volunteer to dog-walk at the animal shelter a couple of times a week or something. But I'll probably survive.
