Great article on what's actually happening when using some editing tools. And thanks for the shoutout. I certainly didn't mean to embarrass you.

Oh no, you did the opposite of embarrassing me. It would have been way worse if I’d gone on believing this truly was a viable shortcut and shared more (unintentionally AI manipulated) images as my own.

Oh good! I love seeing your photos and stories that go along with them. Looking forward to seeing more of your Texas ones soon.

Wow, interesting. And not surprised (sadly). AI can be sneaky! You have to give it very precise instructions and even then, it cannot be trusted.

I think the good news is that you ended up writing about this. It's good for other photographers to know about it!

Yes, I am a little embarrassed that I just got excited about this and didn’t think a little harder about how I know AI can be.

I'm not here to judge, Todd.

People should use whatever software they wish and with which they are comfortable. It's increasingly clear that AI is capable of some amazing things - but it's also clear that the way in which it is foisted upon us can range from subtle to outright devious. IMO, software should enhance what's there, not add things that weren't there or take away things that were - at least without asking permission beforehand. Discovering that software has been playing fast and loose with one's own photos is disgraceful. Is the Gemini-Adobe thing also using your photos to inform its machine learning algorithm, too?

This situation is part of he reason I left Adobe and will never return. How are we ever going to trust companies like Adobe who demonstrate such blatant lack of respect for our work?

Oh, you should definitely judge me, I got duped.

Nah....'fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.'

I think we need to accept that most software companies will insert AI into their product offerings in some way as AI is 'The King's New Clothes' and they'd be seen as being lacking / backward / deficient if it wasn't included. In some cases, AI can help but it can also interfere and use what it's doing to train itself at the customer's expense.
