So I have this backpack that for some reason I had taken to my office and put in one of the cabinets. It has a bunch of printed out pictures from the early 90’s during my first marriage. There are some good captured moments from when my first two kids were young. Also a few that their mom will likely be interested in seeing. I’ll have to scan them to digital and send them to a few people.
The one that I used for today’s picture surprised me. I didn’t even know it was there, and I didn’t even know it was me until I turned it over and saw the caption on the back.
Of course some of these printed pictures were bent, stuck together, faded, or otherwise not in the greatest shape. But it got me thinking …
If digital cameras had been a thing in the early 90’s (or earlier), would I even be looking at these at all?
Seriously, I know for a fact that I took a ton more pictures of my youngest two girls when they were little. But I’m not positive how easy of a time I would have finding them if you put me on the spot right now today. Much less 10 years from now - especially if something were to happen to my Facebook or Google Photos accounts.
I do worry that I should probably get in the habit of printing and preserving at least some of the digital pictures I’ve taken over the years. I’d like to think my kids would appreciate it.
Of course the flip side of this is, there are so many pictures of them out there they may just wish at least some of them couldn’t be found.

I think it’s probably a mixed bag.
On the one hand, I was thrilled to discover this long forgotten baby picture of myself. But as a child of the 80’s, I’m also very thankful that everybody I knew wasn’t walking around with a camera in their pocket while I was growing up.
So how about you, do you have any good found picture stories?
Til Next Time,
Todd
