Backyard Birds
B&W 2026 35/365
Today’s Bird Of The Day theme over on Bluesky is “Backyard Birds”.
I have a backyard that almost has at least a few birds, it would have been wrong not to take my camera out there to see what I might find. It worked out really well that this image of a Verdin looks almost as good in B&W as it does in color:
I’ve been trying to make an effort to limit my social media time, with Notes now being my primary outlet. I’m down to literally about 5 minutes a day on Facebook, where I post my daily Wordle result and see what my mom and kids who live halfway across the country have been up to.
I also usually spend about 15-20 minutes a day on Bluesky.
Much like here on Substack, if you carefully curate your feed to avoid “news” and “politics” as much as possible, there’s actually some pretty good communities over there for things like science and photography.
Your turn:
How often to you take pictures of interesting things right in your own backyard?
Til next time,
Todd

Every day!
I want to caveat real quick about my quip at the end "avoiding news and politics". I do believe in being a well informed citizen, and I'm definitely not sticking my head in the sand about what's going on in the world around us. I just don't want those topics on my social media.
