A Van, The Open Road and (almost) No Responsibilities
That’s my retirement dream …
I want to go wherever I feel like going, and stay until I feel like leaving.
I don’t want to have any plans.
I just want to just take each day as it comes.
This isn’t something that is going to happen immediately. Although it’s not really out of reach say 5-8 years from now. I have the resources.
Don’t feel bad for me having to wait though. In the meantime, I have a job where I:
Don’t come home dirty, sweaty, or worn out
Get paid reasonably well
Have almost zero stress
Am the boss (at least of my little location)
So it’s not something I need to escape.
We also do plenty of weekend and extended holiday traveling.
lol, the traveling is probably the part I want to escape a bit. My title might have been a little misleading. I’m happy to use the open the open road to get to where I want to go.
But then I want to find a nice lake, string up a hammock, then read as many books as I feel like reading.
NO PLANS!!!!
When I feel like leaving, I’ll go somewhere else … back to that open road thing.
Of course there are details to work out. And I’m not sure it will end up looking exactly like I’ve described above. But I’m a big fan of formulating a positive vision, then putting out into the universe to what happens.
Your Turn:
Do you have a vision for how you want your future to look? Even if you’re not totally sure how you get from here to there.
Til next time,
Todd

My mum and dad did this for a while after my dad took early retirement. They drove around the UK and Europe in a smallish motorhome and had the time of their lives. I wish you luck in your dream!
