We bought a used Jeep Wrangler back in April. At the time I was warned “I hope it’s not going to bug you too much that there will be ducks on our dashboard”.
I said okay, but had no idea what it was all about.
Fast forward about 5 months and our dash is in fact now full of ducks. So I suppose it’s about time I learned what the duck thing is all about.
I was pleasantly surprised …
Apparently this trend was started by a Canadian woman during the pandemic as a random act of kindness towards fellow Jeep owners. Over time the trend became known as “You’ve been ducked”.
Now here’s the part where I have to fess up, because we didn’t know better. Some of the ducks in our dashboard “pond” were in fact put there by us. However, Kelly informs me that she has been ducked a couple of times (and it made her feel great all day). She also relieved my fears that we hadn’t been returning the favor by letting me know that she has in fact ducked a few other Jeep owner in the past couple of months.
Now I feel like I’ve been missing out on all this ducking.
Think I’m going to have to order a bag of duckies to carry with me when it’s my week to drive the Jeep (we rotate).
So if you’re a Jeep owner here in Sierra Vista, Arizona, be prepared, I’ve got some ducking catching up to do. :-)
Til next time,
Todd
