Optimism Is More Important Than Ever
Todd's World Weekly - Vol. 4
What does Optimism mean?
In times like this, sometime it’s hard to be optimistic about the future. But we really have to try to understand what the word really means to decide wether or not it’s reasonable to embrace it.
Let’s start with what it doesn’t mean:
Optimism doesn’t mean that everything is good all the time. It doesn’t mean sticking our heads in the sand and pretending that bad things don’t happen.
In a way it’s much more about faith.
It’s the belief that things will be okay/better in the future … even if we have no idea exactly what “okay” looks like, or how we get from here to there.
The other thing we have to accept is that life tends to even out over time. But that timeline is often longer than we’d like it to be. In other words, things might not be better tomorrow, or next week, or even next month. But …
At some point they will absolutely be better.
… especially when we realize that “better” is also a subjective term that’s best evaluated in hindsight.
So that’s my message this week.
Everything is going to be okay.
Now, on to the wrap-up of blog posts that you may or may not have seen yet this week:
My B&W photo project is still going well. Here are this week’s images:

Other posts I wrote this week:
Around Substack:
I started following a publication called Nostalgia Nation, because who doesn’t love some good 80’s memories? This is the note I found them through:
I bought a PDF guide from my friend Chris to try to get the picture archives on my portable hard drives a bit better organized.
Every once in a while you come across a publication where the writing is as beautiful as the pictures: https://substack.com/@soulthroughlens
Finally, I really liked this message from my friend Rosie:
So how was your week? Are you optimistic?
Til next time,
Todd

Optimism is so essential especially when everything is pushing us in the other direction.
It’s a choice…not an easy one, but still a choice.
Good words, Todd, thank you!
Thanks, Todd: I needed this. (As well as the link to Michael Vörös.) You already bring a lot of optimism to my days; and strike me as an optimistic person… – the way you frame it is here, though, is particularly wonderful!
